Character Creation

Setting
The campaign is set in the year 5 ABY, in the year following the death of the Emperor at the Battle of Yavin. The Empire has fractured into the Imperial Remnant and the Rebellion has declared itself the New Republic. Despite this, Imperial Remnant is still in control of large parts of the Galaxy. The campaign will primarily use Legends canon, although on rare exceptions, certain aspects of Disney canon may be included.

Sourcebooks
Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, & Force and Destiny are all available to play, including all of the career sourcebooks, adventure modules, etc. While set after the three setting sourcebooks, certain aspects from Rise of the Separatists, Collapse of the Republic and Dawn of the Rebellion are available as well.

Starting Experience
Characters start with racial experience and have the option to take up to 10 boost experience based on their starting career's sourcebook. (See Obligation, Duty and Feeling below.)

Starting Credits
Characters start with 2,000 cr.

Starting Gear
Basic gear is available that is purchased through a vendor. Up to half of a player's starting credits (not counting boosts) may be spent on restricted items. No mods on attachments on starting gear until after the first session.

Home Location
Each of the Home Locations describes a place that each character hails from, though these are just a starting point and each player should expand their own lineage to deepen the character. Where a character grows up has a lasting impact on his or her life, and as such, each character gains 1 rank in a skill of their choice as well as 1 rank in a talent of their choice from each specific home location. See the House Rules section in the sidebar for specific Home Locations.

Character Resources: Obligation, Duty and Feeling
A character's starting resource is based off the character's main career sourcebook:
Obligation (EoE)  begins with a value of 0 and can be raised to 5 or 10 (for additional xp or credits).
Duty (AoR) begins with a value of 10 and may be reduced to 5 or 0 (for additional xp or credits).
Feeling (Morality in the FaD book) will be handled differently than in the sourcebooks. Characters will select an Emotional Strength and Weakness pair with a starting value of 50%. The character can choose to reduce their score to 45% or 40% (for additional xp or credits). ((GM Note: This change is explained below in the Morality section)).

The Feeling value will be used to guide roleplay. For example, if a character selects Bravery and Anger, with a value of 40%, then 40% of the time they should demonstrate Bravery while 60% of the time they should demonstrate Anger. While this is not something that will be measured in practice, a character will be rewarded in gameplay terms for roleplaying both emotional strengths and weaknesses. Conflict will still be used to moderate a force user's Feeling score and inform whether they make more use of their emotional strength or weakness.

A player can choose to take boost experience, credits or a combination of both in accordance with the rules in the applicable sourcebook. Characters of all sourcebooks will have the ability to gain obligation and duty outside of their specific starting resource through gameplay. Once a party member's duty reaches 100, the group's contribution rank with their chosen faction increases by 1 and everyone's duty is reset to 0 (as per the Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook.

Morality
Despite traditional Star Wars views that only Jedi or Sith fall to the dark side, every character will have a morality score that will reflect their choices. As a result, the FaD starting resource of Morality is being renamed to Feeling (Search your feelings, you know it to be true) as in those Force Users that rely on their feelings tend to fall to the dark side, while the dispassionate objective ones tend to be paragons of good. In any event, all characters start with a morality of 50% and through paragon and renegade points they will become celebrated heroes or frightening villains.

Force Sensitives
The campaign is set in the year 5 ABY. Players desiring to play a force sensitive character must take into account that both the Jedi and Sith are all but gone at this time. Most Force sensitives in the Galaxy were killed or have remained hidden, either lost in a sea of population or on the fringes of the Galaxy. Either way, there are no formal traditions to train Force sensitives. Players wishing to play a career and specialization from FaD need to consult the GM first.

Hook
Your character is currently imprisoned on an Imperial prison ship. The details of your capture can be up to you but should be relatively recent (i.e. you were caught within the past week to month, at the most) and require GM approval (especially if you wish to include NPC characters for later story arcs).
